This 1953 film from the Swiss Federation of Watch Manufacturers gives tips for salesmen that will help them assure customers and successfully sell fine Swiss watches. The film opens with a shot of an American town’s main street. People window shop along a street. Women help customers at a department store. People look in at a jewelry store watch display (01:30). Inside the store, a woman approaches a salesman to discuss purchasing a watch. The salesman shows the woman several different watches. A woman holds a dress up to her to size it by eye. The film shows the inside of a watch (04:23). Viewers see the precision machines used to make watches. A craftsman assembles a watch (04:56). A rotating display case shows a variety of fine Swiss watches (05:14). Another salesman shows a male customer a watch (06:21). The first salesman presents a very slim dress watch to the customer. A man winds his watch as he gets ready for work in the morning (08:31). He is then shown tinkering with his watch (08:55). There is a close-up shot of a watch jewel (09:38), a synthetic stone used to protect the moving parts of a watch. A diagram shows where the watch jewels are located (10:17). The film shows different types of watch owners, including a doctor, a pilot, an engineer, and a cameraman (11:32). The salesman shows the woman a versatile, durable watch (12:07); there is a clip of a woman wearing the watch while doing dishes and accidentally submerging the watch in the sink. Next, viewers see the gears of a self-winding watch (13:10). The salesman talks to the customer about their service department. In the service department, a craftsman works on repairing a watch (14:20). The film concludes with the female customer walking out of the jewelry store after purchasing a watch.
