It features nine segments of historic highlights. 1917-1918 Liberty Bonds for America. The Treasury engraver inspects the first plate for war savings stamps as part of Liberty Loans. Women in 1917 hairstyles and clothing work in the printing office. Metal tanks are used as war bond booths, hawked by a woman in a 1917 dress with large collar and cuffs and a very wide-brimmed hat. A wealthy woman wearing a mink stole buys some. A soldier bugler stands nearby. A sailor buys from her. In Buffalo, a man is shut in a cage with lions as a sales stunt. In Cleveland, a war bond parade includes a giant flag carried by marchers into which people throw money. In Hollywood, Douglas Fairbanks and Charlie Chaplain make war bond speeches. In Washington D.C., Miss Billie Burke speaks from an airplane, using a loud speaker. On Broadway, people buy from “The Little Colonel” salesgirl. A woman holding a dog buys war stamps. 300,000 gather in Forest Park to boost stamps and bonds sales (:40-4:28). 1922 Bullet Proof Vest. A man puts on a bulletproof vest and another purposely shoots him to illustrate its value. More people shoot each other at close range wearing bulletproof vests (4:29-5:00). 1925 Personalities. British actor George Arliss wears a monocle. Grand Duchess Victoria Feodorovna of Russia visits America. American songwriting trio Buddy De Sylva, Lew Brown, and Ray Henderson sit together in Malibu (5:01-6:13). 1926 Surf Smashes Million Dollar Hotel. A large hotel jutting out over Long Beach crumbles due to storms and surf (6:14-7:12). 1933 Prince Weds for Love. Alfonso, Prince of Asturias, renounces the throne of Spain to marry a commoner in Switzerland (7:13-8:06). 1924 Portable Prison. A Los Angeles police officer on a motorcycle has an attached jail sidecar with a chair in it. He pulls over a 1920s convertible, puts the man inside the jail cage, and locks the door. He takes him to a van marked Police Ambulance (8:07-9:03). 1929 Aviation. Concord, New Hampshire, Leo Tremblay flies a glider being towed by an automobile (9:04-10:09). 1925 Fashions of the Day. The wealthy raise money at a gathering in South Hampton, Long Island. Heiresses serve as cigarette girls. There are many 1920s dresses and large hats worn in the group. They bury treasure for children to pay to find. Acrobats perform under a circus big tent. Boys sneak in by crawling under a tent (10:10-11:20). 1928 Sports. The Bloomer Nine all female baseball team practices in Brooklyn (11:21-12:20).
