This black and white film, one of the Andre de la Varre “Screen Traveler” series, recounts the history of the Philippines and shows the island nation as it appeared in the 1930s. Opening sequence: :01-:21. Narrator: March 1521, Magellan discovers the Philippine Islands, :55. Philippine Islands over 7,000 islands, become subject to King of Spain 1:18. Magellan is killed 19 days after declaring this, 1:26. Spain returns to their homeland through Cape of Good Hope and first around the world voyage is completed, 1:35.
