This black and white documentary film, Air Force Story Chapter 2, After the War, 1918-1923, was produced around 1953 by the Department of the Air Force. The Department of the Air Force was formed September 18, 1947, within the Department of Defense. Musical score is by The U.S. Air Force Band under the direction of Lt. Col. George S. Howard, commander and conductor of the band from 1944-1963. The film features a drastic cut in the American Army Air Service after WWI, while maintaining an interest in Mitchell’s argument for air power. The film also documents the study of aerial photography.
