This silent film from the 1930s shows Normal Breech Presentation procedures for childbirth. It is part II of the film (we have not yet transferred the first half.) The Kristeller expression mentioned in the title card at :16 was described by Samuel Kristeller in 1867 and consists of pressure placed on the uterus to aid with expulsion. It’s not widely used in western hospitals today. At 4:47 a baby is shown just after birth, along with at 4:42 the afterbirth. At 5:40 repair of the cervix and perineum are shown. At 6:47 deeply retracted tissue is removed. At 10:14 the uro-genital septum is shown and stitches applied.
