63464 1960s BEEF INDUSTRY PROMOTIONAL FILM “BEEF AS YOU LIKE IT” STEAK & HAMBURGERS MEAT

This 1964 color advertising film about the many ways to serve beef is a presentation of the National Live Stock and Meat Board and a Wilding Production. A man in a business suit, overcoat, and hat exits a blue and white taxi at a one-story house with a circular driveway. He enters an early 1960s living room and removes his coat (:20-1:00). His young daughter jumps into his arms and kisses him. He kisses his wife, dressed in a 1964 cotton fit-and-flare dress. He removes his suit jacket. His daughter comes back into the room wearing a stewardess hat, checkered scarf, and airline pin. He reads the newspaper (1:02-1:53). Dinner includes meat and vegetables, salad in wooden bowls, and water or milk. The family of five eats under a globe chandelier. Emotions range from laughing to downcast. The son spills his milk (1:54-4:32). The older daughter wears a wide fabric headband in her 1964s flip hairstyle. She sits on the floor in the living room, discussing homework with her dad, who sits smoking a cigarette (4:33-5:58). Two women wearing 1960s oversize coats approach an airline counter. They watch a United (N7215U) Boeing 720-022 Jet Mainliner arrive. Passengers disembark. One woman greets her husband at the jet bridge (6:00-6:52). In the living room with its brick wall and Buddha on the hearth, the family views slides from a carousel projector onto a screen. The mother ties an apron around her waist, her pearl necklace showing (6:54-8:25). The first slide is the North Bridge. His New England dinner has boiled beef, carrots, potatoes, and cabbage served on a checkered tablecloth (8:27-9:07). The Liberty Bell region’s meal is rib roast and green beans with onions (9:28-9:44). In Boca Ratan, his meal is prime rib cut from a large round (10:00-10:14). His Southwest dinner is beef chili in decorative1960s bowls and striped glasses, corn chips, and fruit (10:27-10:42). At a lake in Denver, a barbeque grill holds hamburgers and an ironstone coffee pot (10:44-10:52). A red-checkered plate holds a hamburger on a bun, potato chips, roasted peppers, and baked beans (11:13). A wooden party tray has open-faced hamburgers, a condiment tray, bun lids, potato chips, and scalloped bowls filled with fruit (11:31). Meat loaf with onions is served on a rectangle plate (11:38). A large bowl holds spaghetti with many meatballs floating in red sauce. Wooden bowls hold mini vegetables, slices of bread in a covered rectangle basket, and shredded cheese (11:44). A square Corning Ware skillet holds a pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and green beans (11:48). The Golden Gate Bridge meal features vegetable shish-kabobs and sirloin steaks on a grill, and on a plate and side salad in wooden bowls (12:20-12:48). Beef stew and white rice are shown in separate cafeteria pans (13:00). Porterhouse steaks sit next to corn in husks, and shown cooked on a silver platter with longhorn cow embellishments (13:15). The father cuts up a large steak with garnish and distributes it. The family prays (13:27-15:27).
