Featuring bow hunter Tex Stone, this hilarious film shows hunting of javelina in Northern Mexico. The javelinas are hunted in hopes of determining if they are rabid. At 4:30 Tex spots a mountain lion. These are the biggest cats in North America. Both animals are hunted with steel tipped arrows. At 6:50, the film follows a group of ranchers who hunt for bobcats in New Mexico or Arizona with packs of dogs. At 8:50, a bobcat is subdued and put in a cage for transport to a zoo.
Tex Stone hunted all kinds of big game all over the globe, always with bow and arrow. He used the same bow since he started hunting back in 1919. It was six feet long and has a pull of a little more than 80 pounds. He used 28-inch arrows, tipped with heads of 332 steel, 1 inch long. His bow would drive one of these arrows through a two-by-four board at a considerable distance, and could kill a lion or tiger but not such a tough-hided hombre as the rhinocerous.
