This is a 1930’s era, color movie. It was produced by Bob Newman and called Fishermen of the North with Commander Donald B MacMillan. It is a “Musical Memory of Labrador”, presented in Vericolor. Associate producer is Howard Young. The story is by Bob Newman, and the movie is narrated by Howard Young. Photographed by Glenn Kershner and theme music by Jerome Russler. Released by Imperial Distributing Company. The movie opens with us aboard a sailboat. Two men talk in a car, 1:25. Men aboard a sailboat on rough seas, 2:06. Man in crow’s nest with telescope, 2:15. Iceberg is seen, 2:30. Different icebergs are seen, 3:04. Man tests for depth on a boat, 2:35. Barrels are unloaded from a ship onto a smaller ship, 4:05. Barrels are rolled ashore, 4:35. Rocks are loaded on ship for ballast, 5:00. Fresh water is loaded aboard, 5:29. Gas and oil is mixed for fuel and loaded into engine, 5:45. Aerial view of Labrador, 6:25. Donald Baxter MacMillan (November 10, 1874 – September 7, 1970) was an American explorer, sailor, researcher and lecturer who made over 30 expeditions to the Arctic during his 46-year career. He pioneered the use of radios, airplanes, and electricity in the Arctic, brought back films and thousands of photographs of Arctic scenes, and put together a dictionary of the Inuktitut language.
