6163z PAN AM AIRLINES KENYA & MOROCCO TRAVELOGUE NEW HORIZONS

This 1970 color film on Morocco and Kenya is one of a series of Pan Am New Horizons travelogues. It is a J.T.E./Intercine Production in association with Film Services, London, Ltd. A Pan American Jetliner lands, the jet bridge is placed, and passengers disembark to awaiting trains to the older parts of Morocco (:59-1:23). Mint tea is served, using metal and sterling silver containers (1:40-1:55). A Moroccan Fantasia performance involves horseback riders and rifles shot in unison (1:56-2:20). The camel market is shown (2:22-2:42). Snake charmers handle snakes, including an upright cobra (2:44-3:10). Wool carpets are sold (3:11). The ancient city of Fes has leather goods made in traditional ways (3:40-4:10). Tangier has grand hotels and bazaars with items such as rugs and purses (4:11-4:48). A neon “The Ranch Bar” sign in the shape of a pistol offers belly dancers (4:49-5:19). Casablanca has beautiful architecture and fountains (5:20-5:30). Small cars such as a Vespa 400 and Vespa motor scooters are seen (5:31-5:56). It has class hotels (5:57-6:09). A colorful shot of the Atlantic Ocean at sunset has rolling waves (6:11-6:20). The Pan AM plane flies next to Kenya (6:22-6:35). Large flocks of flamingos gather and fly (6:36-6:53). The plane arrives at the Nairobi Airport (6:55-7:09). A traffic policeman directs the cars, busses, and trucks (7:10-7:19). People eat at outdoor cafes, and two men click beer glasses together (7:27-7:32). Carved wooden heads and animals are for sale (7:33-7:45). The Intercontinental Hotel has bikini poolside sunbathers (7:46-8:07). Tours are offered to tourists, who buy the appropriate safari clothing (8:08-8:35). Cameras take pictures of giraffes (8:36-8:54). Baboons climb trees and walk on the road pavement (8:55-9:11). Also seen are birds, owls, and a close-up of a squirrel eating a nut (9:12-9:30). A warthog stands at the road (9:32) as the safari truck passes it and a lion (9:36-9:46). Mombasa is the largest port, with an entrance that looks like giant rhino horns (9:49-9:57). Fort Jesus was built by the Portuguese in 1593 (10:01). People staying at the hotel are served drinks with the ocean in the background (10:05-10:20). A bikini-clad water-skier zips past (10:21-10:29). Deep sea fishing results in a large fish being caught (10:30-10:45). Lake Naivasha offers birdwatching, with more than 360 species (10:46-11:33). Animals seen at Kilaguni Serena Lodge include a standoff between two elephant bulls (11:35-11:55) and rhinos (11:56-12:02). Thompson Falls provides beautiful waterfall scenery (12:03-12:15). Mzima Springs offers views of hippos with wide open mouths (12:16-12:28). People walk to the Treetops Lodge in Ayres National Park, where they can view the wildlife below and baboons come up on the balcony (12:29-13:05). Lions are shown relaxing and sleeping on their backs and sitting up (13:07-13:24).
