60754 1960’s VINTAGE CHRISTMAS PRESENT OPENING & PARTY WITH PINATA HOME MOVIE

This 1960s home movie features a family with twin boys and a baby sister celebrating Xmas. At :33 they are shown opening presents by the tree with mother and grandpa. At :55, it being the Cold War era, they open some kind of missile launcher toy. At 1:14 they receive bowties and at 1:19 a pair of cymbals. At 1:47 they get matching red pajamas. At 2:01 the boys’ stockings are shown stuffed with gifts. At 2:19, it being the pre-Vietnam War era, a set of tommy guns and pistols are given out (these things fell out of favor around 1970). At 3:00 the boys play with a sort of skee-ball set by Mattel called Pop Za Ball. At 3:12 the new xylophone is given a test play.

At 3:54 a holiday party (actually, looks like a birthday party) is thrown for the kids with Coca-cola. A large snowman pinata hangs in the rear. At 4:50 the snowman begins getting tortured with the traditional wooden bat, and at 5:19 mom finishes the job for the delighted children.

At 5:36 baby idles on a chair while at 5:48 the festivities continue with kids blowing on poppers. What appears to be a movie screen is visible in the background in some shots and at 6:54 you can briefly see a movie projector. Hamburgers and milk are served.

At 7:43, another Xmas, probably a year later judging from little sister’s growth. At 7:54 one of the boys examines an NFL official Baltimore Colts costume, while at 7:58 “TV Wiggle Blocks” and a stroller are seen near baby sister. A jack in the box is at 8:08, at 8:15 brother has a baking set. Other gifts include the Snagglepuss game and a farm playset. Dad takes a photo at 8:44. At 8:59 (as some viewers have commented) you can see a book with a fascist symbol, presumably William Shirer’s best selling “Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.” At 9:27, older brother poses with his amazing Ideal Space Helmet. This was a toy based on the Col. McCauley TV show “Men Into Space” which ran from 1959 to 1960. Also visible: Lincoln Logs, a Yogi the Bear playset, and at 9:46 a globe. At 9:54 one of the boys shows off his head which has a huge area with missing hair, or possibly a bandage. Did he get stitches or have some other kind of mishap??

At 10:19 another machinegun is seen and at 10:27 little sister gets to try on the space helmet and then at 10:41 the Baltimore Colts football helmet. At 11:02 you can see a copy of the U.S. Constitution on the wall of the house.
