This 1960s color film about Spain is one of a series of Pan Am travelogues. It is produced and directed by legendary filmmaker Henry Strauss. An organ grinder makes music in a wagon behind a burro (:22), while another donkey gets shoed (:28). Donkeys walk, their backs loaded with packs (:43). A man pushes a stubborn donkey that refuses to move (:48). An old man rides a donkey (1:06). A bull charges across the bullfighting ring at a matador (1:20). Castle shots include Alcazar of Segovia (1:28), Castillo de Burgalima (1:31), Castillo de Olite (1:43), and Castillo de Ponferrada (1:50). The Don Quixote statue is in Madrid (1:54). Greek influence is seen at the Cuatros Postes (Four Pillars) in Avila (2:46). The Cadiz Cathedral began in 1722 (3:32). Beautiful waves crash on the shore (3:43). A fisherman in a small wooden sailboat enters a cove (3:52). Various scenes of preparing a galleon are shown (4:20-4:50). A fisherman repairs his long net (4:52-5:13). The island of Majorca has a marina and hotels (6:15-6:48). Closeups of an olive tree in a grove is shown (6:50). A farmer and a donkey and an ox are in silhouette as they plow (7:55-8:04). Women wash their clothes in a small pool of water (8:30). Shots of horse hoofs are expanded to it turning a water wheel (8:50). A team of cattle plow a slope, their eyes covered by a hat of red fringe (9:36-9:52). Segovia features the Segovia Cathedral (9:59). Shown are closeups of the Aqueduct (10:07-10:52), and the Avila Castle (10:55-11:30). Madrid is a bustling city, with many 1930s vehicles and taxis (11:42-11:50). Neon lights the night sky (11:55). Madrid also has the Prado Museum (12:16-12:26). Quick shots are shown of many different people crowded together on the streets (12:27-12:50). The camera pans up extremely tall buildings with changing architecture (12:50-13:00) outside the Plaza de Espana square (13:09-13:15). Grenada in the south (13:20) views snow on the Sierra Nevada mountain range (13:33-13:37). Girls quickly jump rope in the street (13:45). The Alhambra Palace was rebuilt in the mid-13th century (13:55-14:20). A traditional Flamenco dance is performed (14:16-15:36). A child rides a donkey down the street (16:00-16:23). A white horse is trained to ride in a bullfight (16:25-16:58). A young bull is released into a ring for training (17:05-17:55). Bulls fight on a hillside and in front of people for judging (18:05-18:44). The matadors enter the bullring to much fanfare and a crowd (18:49-20:29). A cable car heads up a hill to the Monastery of Montserrat, where a pageant is performed during Holy Week (20:38-23:10). Moor architecture is seen (23:33-23:54). Following Holy Week is a celebration, with traditional dressed men, women, and children shown throughout the clips (23:55-26:50). A dance is performed with castanets (24:12). Horses fancifully trot (25:15-25:26). A closeup of the twirling dancer’s skirts is shown (25:50-26:08). A Ferris wheel turns (26:10). A closeup of the Pan American World Airways DC-8 Clipper Caroline (1960-1968) is shown in flight (27:24-27:48).
