This black & white educational film is a newsreel about varying topics. No copyright but this is circa the early 1950s.

Opening titles: Yesterday’s Newsreel (:08-:27). Title: 1917-1950 – Angels of Mercy. 1917 – women from the Red Cross feed men who are leaving for war. Men sit and eat at a table. France, Red Cross ambulances. Cars drive across bridge. At hospitals in England, Red Cross women nurse the wounded. Men on crutches race. A tug of war between men and the women. Red Cross workers of WWI aid the men. Women sew. Red Cross nurses welcome the returning men. Brunswick, NJ statue memorial to the Red Cross. Running flood waters. Houses have water to their roofs. Red Cross women give food to survivors of the flood or those just in need. Red Cross women give troops food. Red Cross workers teach a boy how to bathe a baby. Rochester Regional Blood Center for the American Red Cross. Women work at the blood bank. Women perform for troops. Draftees dance with Red Cross women. A man watches a magician do magic tricks from his hospital bed. A band plays and then Joey Brown shows up. U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. (:28-5:09). Title: 1922 – Balance for Boats. Lawrence B. Sperry, inventor of a stabilizer. It’s to prevent big ocean liners from swaying when the seas are rough. The stabilizer sways and moves. Sperry looks serious. Title: 1923 – Personalities. Henry Cabot Lodge was an American Republican senator and historian from Massachusetts. He exits a building. He is with his wife. Malibu Beach, 1931, Lillian Cashman poses for a still camera. Her husband joins her. Malibu – Warner Baxter and Neal Hamilton are in the water (5:10- 7:03). Title: 1930 – Building Collapses! October 3, 1930, a four story tenement in Greenwich Village has collapsed. Rubble and ruins. People try and save people as they dig. Lots of rubble surrounds the people. Title: 1919 – Circus at Camp Upton. August 9, 1919, Camp Upton, circus performers perform. Aerial acts. Trained dogs, slide for life stunt, motorcycle stunt. Title: 1924 – Aviation. A designer has a plane that will rise vertically and then fly – but it cannot rise. It’s put back into a hangar (7:04-9:22). Title: 1933 – Fashions of the Day. A man in bed wears silk pajamas. He gets up and stretches, bends over. He then starts rowing on a machine. He puts on his silk robe and walks into his living room. Shows off his shorts. He goes into another room and exits shirtless before putting on his silk robe and then reads a book. Title: 1919 – Sports. Alameda, CA, Washington vs California in Pacific Coast Regatta. Rough waters and the California team sinks into the water. They await rescue (9:23-12:10). No end credits.
