This black & white home movie shows a visit to Budapest, Hungary and Vienna, Austria in the 1930s. It was shot by an unknown American tourist. The film is in two segments, the first showing Budapest and the resort area of Bad Gastein, and the second segment — complete with title cards — showing Vienna.

Opening: a crowd of people in the public baths, and relaxing near the pool (:08). Truckloads of soldiers or a military convoy drives past a crowd (1:50). People in a wave pool at the public baths; some go down a slide; other sunbathe near the pool (2:54). Shots at the Gellert Spa’s wave pool (3:48). Landscape; mountains, probably shot from a mountaintop with a telephoto lens or possibly even from a moving train (5:02). Views of Bad Gastein (formerly Badgastein), a spa town in the district of St. Johann im Pongau, in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Picturesquely situated in a high valley of the Hohe Tauern mountain range, it is known for the Gastein Waterfall and a variety of Belle Époque hotel buildings. Some of them are visible here including the “Villa Ella” and the “Villa Louise”. A waterfall and raging waters down rocks (6:42). Trees and raging waters down the rocks (7:43). Old and new Imperial Palace (11:27). Votiv Church (11:45). Parliament (11:53). A crowd of people (12:01). City Hall in Vienna (12:06). St. Charles Church as a tram trundles by (12:25). Town park with Kursalon and Strauss Monument (12:32). Danube Canal and observatory (12:46). The “Prater” – the amusement park of Viennese people; multiple rides are shown including a huge Ferris wheel. (12:54). Tenement buildings (13:11). Old houses in Vienna (13:41). The very ancient “Griechenbeisel,” the oldest restaurant in Vienna (13:45). Castle of Schoenbrunn, former imperial residence (13:54). Grinzing, an old picturesque village that is now part of Döbling, the 19th district of Vienna, and celebrated in many Viennese folk songs; sign for the town; men serenade as patrons of a restaurant make a toast (14:06).
