55324 ” BICYCLE RULES FOR THE ROAD ” 1960s BIKE RIDING SAFETY EDUCATIONAL FILM

This 1960 educational film presented by Charles Cahill and Associates covers the three bicycle rules of the road: 1.Look and be visible 2. Make turns and lane changes only after signaling 3. Obey all signs and signals. It also features police test footage of cars crashing into bikes at low speeds, to see the damage that can be done when not paying attention to these rules. The film features Schwinn bicycles and it seems likely Schwinn was a sponsor of the production.

Motion picture films don’t last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we’ve worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies — including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you’d like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we’d love to hear from you.
