Hays, and opera soprano Marion Talley, A crushing blizzard that hit Chicago in 1929 is revisited starting at mark 05:35 as residents dig out cars amidst white-out conditions, and plows go to work in the Chicago Loop. Mark 06:48 educates the view on how the army mined San Francisco Bay as part of a training exercise, followed by a look at new roads Yosemite National Park that opened in 1926, aviatrix Amelia Earhart shown in London in 1928 (mark 08:50), the 1926 fashion scene. Mark 10:20 introduces us to Indianapolis 500 winner Tommy Milton as well as marathon swimmers in Canada.
