From the tower, Paris can be seen in all its splendor. A boat goes down the River Seine. A man plays guitar, a woman paints, young lovers kiss. A man fishes. A boat passes by The Île de la Cité, one of two remaining natural islands in the Seine within the city of Paris. It is the centre of Paris and the location where the medieval city was refounded. Aerial shot of the Palais de Chaillot. Aerial shot of Paris. Aerial and ground shots of The Arc de Triomphe, which honors those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Cars drive near it. Beneath the Arc is the tomb of the unknown soldier. There burns an eternal flame. The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is a triumphal arch in Paris, located in the Place du Carrousel. It is an example of Corinthian style architecture. It was built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon’s military victories (:10-2:39). Champs Elysees, a large and very famous avenue in Paris. Sidewalk cafes. People walk by the cafes and the cinema. Cars go down an avenue. The Place de la Concorde, one of the major public squares in Paris, it is the largest square in the French capital. Fountains in the Concorde. The Great Opera House. Cars drive. L’Eglise Sainte-Marie-Madeleine or Church of St. Mary Magdalene. The Pantheon in Paris where some famous people are buried including Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, Jean Moulin, Louis Braille, Jean Jaurès and Soufflot, its architect. The Louvre Museum. The statue of Venus de Milo. the Mona Lisa painting. A Joan of Arc statue outside of the Louvre. Stores in the shadows of the Notre Dame. Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. The Palace of Versailles (2:40-5:30). The Paris central market. Food on display for sale. Paris the gourmet center of the world. Le Cordon Bleu chef cooks. A waiter serves a couple. Notre Dame. The cathedral has gargoyles on it. The Church of the Sacred Heart or Sacré-Cœur, a Roman Catholic Church. Montmartre is primarily known for its artistic history, the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur on its summit, and as a nightclub district. People sit and paint. A painter paints. River Seine. Moulin Rouge. Cabaret music hall neon sign. Paris at night (5:31-7:54). End credits (7:55-7:58).
