53844 CHILDREN OF THE BALKAN MOUNTAINS – 1930s SERBIA, ALBANIA, YUGOSLAVIA, BULGARIA, GREECE, TURKEY (Print 2)

Shot in the early 1930s and then re-released in 1939, this historic educational film features interesting “close-ups” of the children of the Balkan nations Yugoslavia, Albania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey. They are shown in intimate little domestic scenes of spinning, ploughing, feeding turkeys, chickens and geese. Helping their parents with the oddest of spinning wheels; herding sheep and drawing water from a picturesque old well with a sweep. As one of the titles cleverly expresses it, “Children are pretty much alike all over the world, and very well worth all the trouble experienced in their bringing up.”
