This late 1950s color film is about the state of New York. The New York City skyline opens the film (:11-38). Greenwich Village has an open-air painting gallery hung on wire fences (1:25-2:00). Churches include St. Marks (2:02) and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, viewed from Radio City (2:21-2:50). Skaters are showcased on its outdoor ice skating rink (2:51-3:12). A family rides in a horse-drawn carriage through Central Park (3:15-3:24). Shown are the Metropolitan Museum of Art (3:30) and the main public library’s lions (3:41-3:52). The bronze Alma Mater stands outside Columbia University (3:53-4:19). The gothic tower of Riverside Church (4:25) is across from President Grant’s Tomb (4:27-4:37). A ticker-tape parade marches down Broadway (4:40-4:52). The neon lights at Times Square advertise products, including Planters Peanuts (4:53-5:05). A view of the New York port is shown (5:07-5:20), followed by the Statue of Liberty (5:21) the Brooklyn Bridge (5:38), and a passenger liner (5:51). Bridges are shown, followed by 1950s cars (6:03-6:35). The tower and sunbathers at Johns Beach State Park include a child sitting in the sand splashing her arms (6:38-7:22). A man surf fishes (7:23) and two women wearing 1950s neck scarves walk the sand dunes (7:35-7:45). A reel is shown up close on a deep-sea fishing boat and a marlin is caught (7:58-8:38). Dude ranchers ride horses, including across beach sand (8:40-9:15). Tulips are in Huntington (9:17-10:00). The “Enjoy Long Island Duckling” sign, ducklings, and ducks are shown (10:02-10:38). A multi-decked boat carries passengers on the Hudson River (11:08-11:30). The monument, George Washington statue, and military parade are seen at West Point (11:47-12:47). A cargo ship approaches Albany (13:00-13:25). 1950s cars drive the highways (14:34-14:59). Cows chew cud by a blue stream (15:10-15:24). The Whiteface Mountain Highway sign points to lookout tower views (15:43- 16:14). Santa Claus Village shows children feeding sheep and riding ponies (16:18-17:08). Visitors explore the cannons at Fort Ticonderoga (17:16-17:52). Historically dressed French soldier guides greet visitors. The cannons are fired and returned from Canada at Old Fort Niagara (17:55-19:02). Niagara Falls is shown, including visitors walking to Cave of the Winds (19:03-19:51). The Maid of the Mist carries passengers at Horseshoe Falls (19:53-20:11). Falls footage is shown (20:12-20:26). Hikers wear plaid shirts (20:55-21:24). The “Adirondack Canoe Route” sign introduces a family canoeing (21:25-22:30). Sailing shows a sail unfurled, and a dinghy towed behind (22:35-22:55). A woman passenger gets in a sailplane, launched, and shown gliding (22:56-24:12). Watkins Glen State Park shows steps, bridges, and waterfalls along the Gorge Trail (24:14-24:55). Letchworth State Park resembles the Grand Canyon with its winding Genesee River (24:57-25:45). Ausable Chasm has guided boats that move through the canyon and a rapids (25:46-26:28). The Thousand Islands are explored by cruise boats on the Canadian and American sides of the St. Lawrence River. Boldt Castle sits on a cliff (26:49). Grapes are picked up close and put into Widmer’s crates (27:22-27:55). Colorful fall foliage is shown (27:57-28:14). Ice skating (28:15-29:06), bobsledding at Lake Place (29:07-29:34), and snow skiing up-close (29:35-30:30) are shown.
