This Soviet newsreel, presented in Russian, shows some of the news events of the Brezhnev era.

Narrator: This is the meeting of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Leonid Brezhnev, Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, Alexey Kosygin, and the President of Algerian People’s Democratic Republic, Houari Boumediene, who arrived to USSR on a friendly mission. (01.12) Yerevan, the capital of Soviet Armenia, is welcoming its dear guests from the brotherly Soviet republics. The Armenian nation is celebrating the 50th anniversary of joining Russia. (01.37) At the ceremonial meeting of the Presidium, Minister of Defense of USSR, Marshall Ustinov, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan, Aliev, Party and members of the public are present. (02.04) First Secretary of the Communist Party of Armenia, Demirchyan, wholeheartedly thanked the Party for appreciating their efforts. He expressed readiness to pay for the constant care of the Party for the people’s welfare. (03.11) This holiday will become another unforgettable page in the triumphant chronicle of Lenin’s national policy. (03.22)

An unprecedented harvest of fodder turnips in Leningrad region was grown at the state farm managed by Ilya Dekhtyarenko. 60,100 kilos of turnips per hectare were gathered. (03.45) This victory of the young Communist and his colleagues is one of the many examples of realizing the decisions of the July Plenum of the Central Committee of the Soviet Union. This high-quality fodder ensures the success of cattle breeding. This farm in Poltava region is one of the best in Ukraine. 150 specialized animal breeding complexes will be built in Ukraine in the future. (04.39)

This is the land of Kaluga. Lidiya Kondratyeva lives and works at Lopatinsky state farm. Each of the 4 departments of the poultry plant has 14,000 laying hens. Lopatinsky complex is the biggest in the district. New technologies and modern equipment allow to pick 250 eggs from each hen instead of planned 200. (05.13)

Lidiya Kondratyeva is the leader of the labor union of the plant. (05.26) An All-Union Komsomol division of workers is departing from Moscow for construction sites on lands of the Soviet Union. At the ceremonial meeting, the First Secretary of the Komsomol Central Committee, Pastukhov, read the welcoming words of General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Leonid Brezhnev, to the members of the Komsomol division. The speaker expressed certainty that every volunteer would selflessly work like a true Communist on nonchernozem sites. (06.16) Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, Solomintsev, highlighted that the Party appreciated the labor of young communists at the construction sites. (06.46) 3,000 volunteers left Moscow. They will give their knowledge, passion of the young hearts, and working talent to the construction sites of nonchernozem lands. (07.09) The best farm machinery operators of Ternopil region are receiving new beet combines. 40 of these top-rated vehicles were built in excess of the plan by the Komsomol members working at the Ternopil Combine Plant. Every young worker took part in this patriotic movement. (07.42)

The new combines drove from the central square of Ternopil into the fields. (08.15) Powerful diesel electric cranes are being built at the Machine Building Plant Named after the First of May in Kirov. Alexander Pushkaryov and his brigade colleagues committed to the success of the plant. (08.51) To fulfill the great goals set for the Komsomol youth by the Party, reliable modern machinery is required. (09.13) USSR Motor-Boating Championship took place in the reservoir near Grozny. (09.20) Evgeny Stepanov from Ulyanovsk, Oleg Pekotkin from Leningrad, and Vladimir Koshirin from Voronezh are the winners.
