5023z NAVY LOG TV SHOW KOREAN WAR EPISODE “LUNGER OF KUNSAN” MINE SWEEPING

The Navy Log TV show presented some of the great stories in the history of the 20th Century U.S. Navy, including survival and war stories. The series premiered on CBS on September 20, 1955, but moved to ABC in 1956, where it aired until September 25, 1958. The program aired for a total of three seasons and 104 episodes.

Dating from season one in 1956, this Korean War episode of Navy Log is entitled “Lunger of Kunsan.” It stars Philip Bourneuf as Commander William Dickson, Stafford Repp as Daniel Adler, Kenneth MacDonald as the Admiral, Lyle Latell as the Air Officer and Janet Stewart as the Technician. The episode was directed by series creator Sam Gallu. The plot of this episode surrounds the career of a Navy minesweeper and how it helped changed the course of the Korean War. The program was shot aboard the Royal Canadian Navy’s HMCS Athabaskan, a destroyer of the Tribal class, that served in the Second World War.
