This silent home movie — or it might be a promotional film — shows the Greek liner Kentavros arriving in the port of Palermo, Italy in 1968. The ship sailed for the Klavenis Lines, or K-Line, also known as the Kavounides Shipping Co. The movie shows the ship arriving in port, apparently with a load of Israeli passengers (the Israeli flag is visible at 4:27). Another flag is also shown in the film, apparently belonging to a tour company (:26).
M/V Kentavros had a really interesting history, in that she began her life not as a ship of pleasure, but as the USS Barnegat (AVP-10). The ship was a small seaplane tender in U.S. Navy commission from 1941 to 1946. After the end of her U.S. Navy career, the former Barnegat operated as the Greek cruise ship MV Kentavros from 1962 out of Piraeus, Greece and finally was scrapped in 1986 at Eleusis, Greece.
