This Soviet newsreel, presented in Russian, shows some of the news events of the Khrushchev era.

Narrator: Decisions taken at the 22 Congress of Lenin’s Party will always be significant for our history. Military divisions are taking part in the parade on Red Square to commemorate the 44th Anniversary of the Great October. Secretary of Defense of USSR, Marshall Malinowski, congratulated the soldiers, all the Soviet people, and foreign guests on the 44th Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. (01.05) Divisions are marching triumphantly. (01.40) Personnel assets of the Navy are always ready to fulfill their sacred duty with honor. Missile corps, the most powerful force of the Soviet Army, are at the parade. Soviet fighters are provided with the best weapons and machinery in the world that is capable of destroying any aggressor if one attempts to attack our Motherland. (02.20) Athletes are entering Red Square. They form a large number 22 (XXII), the symbol of the Congress, and the word ‘Lenin’ which is so dear to every Soviet person’s heart. Columns of Moscow workers step into Red Square. They wholeheartedly welcome the leaders of the Communist Party, the Soviet Government, and foreign guests. (03.10) Workers of factories and plants of Moscow, construction workers, and students-to-be cross the square. They are ready to realize the decisions of the 22 Congress of the Communist Party. (03.40) A celebratory demonstration of Moscow workers is a vivid proof of the unity and integrity of the Soviet people and the Communist Party which leads our country to Communism. (04.00) ‘To work, comrades! For the new victories of Communism!’, Nikita Khrushchev appealed. Delegates of the 22 Congress of the Party came back to their workplaces keeping this kind parting wish in mind. At Moscow House-Building Plant, coworkers warmly welcomed their foreman, Sergei Loputsko, and asked him many questions about his trip. (04.43) At Moscow Electric Bulb Plant, the delegate of the 22 Congress of the Communist Party, Kseniya Kotelnikova, shared her vivid impressions of the days she spent in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses. (05.02) This is how they were welcoming Antonina Dogadkina after the Congress, she is a sub forewoman at Moscow Tonkosukonnaya Factory of Peter Alekseev. (05.20) At the First Moscow Medical Institute, laureate of the Lenin Prize, Professor Petrovsky, made a speech about the 22 Congress of the Communist Party in front of his colleagues. (05.43) Hero of Socialist Labor, Viktor Ermilov, returned to his machinery after the Congress. He is an engineer at the Red Proletary Moscow Plant. He is honored to be a member of the Party’s Central Committee. Viktor Ermilov said, ‘I will always remember Khrushchev’s words: communism can only be built by labor’. (06.15) People’s Artist of the Soviet Union, a delegate of the 22 Congress, Angelina Stepanova made a speech in front of the workers of Moscow Art Theater.(06.41) Columns of cars drive the roads of Uzbekistan as an endless stream. (07.21) Harvest work is coming to an end in Armenia. Anyone who happen to visit the valleys of Ararat at this time of the year will witness a vivid view. The white cap of Mount Ararat crowns the heaps of white gold gathered by Armenian cotton growers. (07.43) When night falls at Kuril bay, local fishers sail into the sea. Saury is a special type of fish, it is only being fished at night.. (08.08) Fish is being processed nearby. Products of the local canning plant are very popular all over the country. Successful performances of the artistic collectives of Soviet Republics took place in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses. The dancing team of Lithuania is performing. (08.43) The Ukranian team is dancing hopak.
