This travelogue film, presented by Castle Films was one of a series sold for the home market called “The World Parade”. They were commonly sold in department stores and camera shops. This film shows Glacier National Park, a 1,583 square mile wilderness area in Montana’s Rocky Mountains, as it appeared in the 1940s. It includes shots of the area’s landscape including some of the glaciers and valleys. The Rocky Mountains are viewed through trees (:25). The park sits near the Canadian border (:25). A steam train pulls up to deliver tourists (:41) and a building reading Glacier Park is viewed (:44). A shot follows from through the eastern entrance of the park (:48). A sightseeing bus — one of the storied Red Bus fleet of White Motor Company / Bender Body Company Model 706 buses — carts tourists through the mountainside (5:21). Mountain wild flower blossoms spring up from the ground (:59). Tourists stand near the river’s edge overlooking it’s rapid waters (1:39). A mother bear and her three cubs halt traffic (2:06). Tepees sit in a campground with a horse corral nearby (2:24). Cowboy’s lasso the horses in for tourists to ride in order to get a better view of the area (2:28). Horses and riders move up sloping ground (3:05). The tourists wade through water and trot over the land (3:50). Two Medicine Falls is seen near one of the many campsites (4:05). The vacationers settle around a campfire (4:09) and one of the men steps to the waters edge to fish for trout (4:21). Hoary marmot’s creep close to one of the campers and pull food from his hand (4:38). Tourists then take to the trails again (4:51) and are seen riding through one of the valleys (5:21). A small herd of deer plucks through the land (5:21). Hunting is forbidden in this area though it was once a popular hunting ground of the Blackfeet Indian tribe (5:43). Members of this tribe step out from their tepees to sell beads to the tourists (8:52). Members of the Blackfeet tribe conduct a modern version of a tribal dance (6:04). In the area shown (6:35) which encompasses the continental divide, there are over fifty glaciers. From the triple divide, water flows into the Pacific Ocean, the Hudson Bay and the Gulf of Mexico (6:42). These are fed by melting glaciers which move forward about an inch annually (7:02). A shot follows of the ridges in the ground which had been cut by the slow-moving glaciers (7:11). Mountain goats and sheep dot the jagged terrain (7:26). The sight seers bend over to peer into one of the deep trenches between the glaciers (7:50). A close up shot through the deep crack follows (7:52). The film begins to wrap up with shots of the mountain slopes (8:49) and bubbling river rapids (9:19).
