Made in 1948, “Land of Fair Dinkum” is a travelogue about Australia that had it’s title — which was not in common use among Australians — criticized by the Australian Consul-General when initially released. Paramount Pictures’ Paul White defended the title, saying that several Australians had recommended it to him. The film was one of a series entitled “Our Changing World” made for distribution to educational institutions. The film shows New

South Wales with its surfing, racing,wood chopping, shearing and the flying doctor service.

This is a story written by air about the land of Australia. It is about a matter of hours here to reach Sydney, the capital city of Australia as seen at mark 0:55. It is the 17th largest city in our changing world. Australia as large as that of the United states has a population about that of New York city as seen at mark 1:00. One out of every Australians lives in Sydney as seen at mark 1:03. They are different kinds of people easy and democratic like America and are generation closer to their pioneering ancestors. They have strong feeling about cooperation. Their pet slang expression for power is seen at mark 1:20. They are fair dinkum of people, fair dinkum meaning something that is okay as seen at mark 1:30. And that’s how you’ll find them, a fair dinkum of people whose hard work as built a fair dinkum of land. They are quick to adopt the latest American ideas in transportation, business, and industries as seen at mark 1:50. At mark 2:00 is a busy port. Most homes are situated within easy reach of the beautiful harbor with its many fine beaches as seen at mark 2:00. Ice cream cones are popular as seen at mark 2:28. At mark 2:30, sportsmanship and natural competition is seen which is a national characteristics. Life saving patrols first originated on the Australian beaches as seen at mark 2:45. At mark 6:25 are horses of almost a million and a half of them. Nearly everyone in the outback are experts for horse sport as seen at mark 6:30. It’s a Saturday at mark 6:40 and a race track which is the order of the day. At mark 6:50, the race is seen with commentators commenting. At mark7:30 is the Australian famous laughing man in a fair. Families from all four corners of the nation come here to see what’s going on in their country as seen at mark 7:36. From Mulabula to Wagawaga they come to learn about latest ideas. At mark 8:00 is their chop competition. The winner is seen at mark 8:15. These are sport loving people, industrials. At mark 8:28 is their flying doctor base station who they call in term of needs. They walk with confidence through the street and aren’t afraid in our changing world.
