This World War II era, color, silent home movie features snippets of civilian life shot by ordinary American citizens in daily life in Washington, DC. It likely dates to 1944-1946, but unfortunately we don’t know the precise year.

The film opens with a man and a woman playing beneath a tree blossoming in springtime. Springtime blossoms surround the neighborhood. A man and two women walk down the street joyfully: 30. Three women wave to the camera: 43. A man and a woman play with a dog: 55. Different blossoming flowers are shown 1:05. Women pose in front of a home and a bright red Begonia bush 1:22. Bright red Begonia 1:35. The cherry blossoms and other flowers surround the house and people 1:50. Beautiful flowers cascade down wooden gazebos and archways 2:20. A family poses for the camera. The film goes dark at 10:43 and reopens in front of the White House. Christmas trees line the promenade 10:50. A stage is set and a lone person sits on one chair among many, stacked before the stage. The stage reads “Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men”. Very tall Christmas tree, but not the National Christmas Tree as that would be on the grounds of the White House, with a bright star on top 11:40. A live manger scene features two small lambs 11:53. Close-ups of the large Christmas tree 12:00. A raindeer takes a nap 12:07. It is Christmas in Washington 12:33.
