This black & white educational film is about the country of Norway. This was made during WWII but contains footage from the 1930s.

Opening titles: NORWAY (:06-:13). Mountains and fjords of the country of Norway — as it looked before the outbreak of WWII. People walk around. Fishing village of Bergen. Bergen is a city on Norway’s southwestern coast. It’s surrounded by mountains and fjords, including Sognefjord, the country’s longest and deepest. Sign for a bakery (1:01) and cobblestone streets. Parks in Bergen with lilies. People walk through a park. Geographical Institute of the University of Bergen. Bergen Bay fishermen. Boats in the bay. Sardine fishermen work with nets (:14-2:36). Men scoop up sardines. Piles of sardines. Hauling crates of fish. Fish are cleaned and oiled by women in a cannery. A glacier send water down to streams. Laplanders dwell in parts of Norway (4:07). The Sámi people are an indigenous Finno-Ugric people inhabiting Sápmi, which encompasses large northern parts of Norway. The indigenous people with their children and in teepees. Dogs nearby. Women hug their children and sit with them (2:37-5:05). Dogs herd reindeer. Milking time. Oslo, Norway, the capital city (5:50). Cityscape as seen from high building, narrator notes it has 300,000 inhabitants. Public housing projects seen in Oslo, part of Norway’s progressive strategy of governance. A radiant flower market. Women look at flowers for sale (5:06-6:50). Flowers. A palace and a modern trolley car. A promenade with people sitting. Oslo Yacht Club. Boats in a harbor. A ferryboat (6:51-8:48). End credits (8:49-8:55).
