This 1960s era, black and white film takes us on a fascinating trip to the Old West where we visit the pioneers, wagoneers, pony express riders, miners, cowboys and Indians. Special attention is paid to the horse drawn coaches and wagons of the day and transportation routes from middle America to the West Coast in the 1860s and 70s. The movie opens on an old tree stump. The camera pans over a valley and up a mountain, spotted with evergreen trees. A small stream runs and beaver dams are shown 1:00. The camera pans skyward.
