34570 HD SHANGHAI TRAVELOGUE MOVIE 1927 by Isaac Upham Silent Film

This unique silent film is believed to have been created by American filmmaker Isaac Upham, assisted by Chinese filmmaker Moon Kwan. Upham visited China and lived there from 1922 to 1927, during which time he attempted to make a long feature travelogue entitled “Pieces of China”. Apparently Upham did many private screenings in Hollywood but could not get distribution for the film. The original, full-length version is now considered lost. This short, which was one of several Chinese travelogues released by the Kodak Film Library, is quite extraordinary in that it shows the Bund, Soochow Creek, Woosung, and the Chinese City as well as many other sights. Thanks to WWII, the Chinese Revolution / civil war and the Communists, not to mention the rise of Capitalism, this place is now entirely different.
