Dating from September 7, 1946, this fascinating and poignant 16mm silent home movie pays tribute to all those who gave their lives in World War II. The entire population of the small town of Mendon, Massachusetts is seen decked out in bunting, and there are many celebrations and a special memorial to those local residents who lost their lives in the conflict. The film ends with many shots of local children, including a little league baseball game, and with them perhaps hope that the future would be brighter…
Mendon is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 5,839 at the 2010 census. Mendon is very historic and is now part of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, the oldest industrialized region in the United States.
