This is one of a series of newsreels produced for the home market in Germany, and sold in department stores before and during WWII. This particular film focuses on the invasion of Norway. The film begins with footage in Denmark (likely sometime after its capitulation on April 9, 1940) with German troops boarding ships for the assault on Norway, which begins at (1:00). At 1:09, German soldiers are shown aboard a Junkers trimotor transport (note the bicycle in the rear) on their way north. At 1:36, with the plane on the ground, the troops organize their weapons. At 1:51, a German warship is shown on the move. At 1:59 it drops a depth charge. At 2:22, German troops aboard a ship are ready to invade. The convoy is supported by the Kriegsmarine. At 3:00, a panzer is unloaded from the ship by crane. At 3:12 the Germans move unopposed inland, seizing a radio station.
Operation Weserübung was the code name for Germany’s assault on Denmark and Norway.
Despite British attempts to help, Norway surrendered to Germany on June 10.
