Opening: Two boys sit near the stern of the boat. Title: OCEAN VOYAGE (:08-:36). A man looks at the model of an ocean liner, S.S. Olympia. The model sits in the window of a Travel Bureau. The man wanders New York City. He heads down to the pier and he looks at the S.S. Olympia anchored on the water. The boy is named Niko. A man pulls on a wire and a car is lifted by wires/ropes to be placed into the ship. In the crew’s quarters is a recreation room, Niko shows his friends the souvenirs he purchased for his family (:37-2:34). Niko reads a book while laying in bed on the ship. He rolls over and goes to sleep. The ship’s lights are on even at night. The next morning, the passengers baggage comes up a conveyor belt. Passengers start to board. Stacks of luggage. The American flag flies alongside a Greek flag. Tugboats come to assist the cruise ship. People say their goodbyes on the dock. The crowd cheers as the boat starts to exit the dock. The cruise ship near the skyline of NYC. The captain looks out the window and points. They pass the Statue of Liberty. The skyline of NYC. The man at the wheel turns the wheel (2:35-5:10). In the open sea, the captain sets the course. Diagram shows the route from NYC to Southampton, England. Different routes are shown. A man raises binoculars while looking at the sea. The ship moves on. The horn of the ship blows. People move around, grab safety preservers, it’s a lifeboat drill, which takes place the first day out at sea. People are assigned a certain lifeboat just in case. The lifeboat is tied to the side of the ocean liner (5:11-7:10). The ship sails out at sea. Niko walks around the boat and passes by other crewmen. Electric telegraph is used by the captain. Engine room – steam turbine engines. Chief engineer looks around, he walks around the room. He then inspects one of the two engines to make sure it is working correctly. Ocean sea. People enjoy their time in the pool, a game of shuffleboard, deck tennis between father and son (7:11-9:36). The ship sails on. Passengers in the dining room. The radar antenna turns. Radar signal moves. The captain looks at it. A gyro compass. A crewman plays an accordion. A woman brushes her hair as her husband watches in their cabin. Passengers enjoy and dance (9:37-11:07). Sea sparkles. A British aircraft flies over the ship to make sure all is well. The British flag flies on the ship’s flagpole now. Heading into the English Channel. A tugboat comes out to meet them. The car is hoisted up again. Passengers say goodbye and get easy to leave via a smaller ship to keep the cruise ship in deeper waters. Birds fly. People wave. The S.S. Olympia sails onward (11:08-12:59). End credits (13:00-13:06).
