Canadian Pacific Air Lines was a Canadian airline that operated from 1942 to 1987. The opening of the “great circle route” over the poles in the 1960s allowed the airline to significantly grow and open new routes. These included Amsterdam, Sydney, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. At the start of the film, the narrator praises Amsterdam as “the gateway to Europe.”
