This early 1950s color film highlights United Airline’s routes. A United Airlines stewardess speaks to well-dressed male passengers (:07-:25). Passengers disembark from a United DC-6. The passenger removes his leather suitcase from the rack just inside the plane’s door (1:00-1:14). The United Airlines flight map is shown (1:15). A father leaves a doctor R.B. Joyce’s office with his son (1:29). A woman passenger flips through a magazine. She asks for help on how to make her seat go back (1:38-2:00). Doctors wearing lab coats listen to a lecture (2:06-2:19). Two women wearing mink fur stoles and 1940s hats with netting window-shop for shoes (2:40-2:54). A man and woman eat the large meals served on the plane. She is wearing a double-strand of pearls and a multi-colored broach (2:56-3:12). At the Chicago Midway Airport, passengers disembark from a Convair plane. The luggage moves down the conveyer belt. A transfer tag is shown so that piece is moved to the United DC-6 plane (3:24-3:50). A female passenger gets out of a taxi cab and rushes to board the plane (3:52-4:12). A buyer for a department shoe watches a model walk in 1940s chunky-heeled shoes (4:14-4:42). Women golfers wear below-the-knee skirts, sweaters, slouchy socks, and saddle-shoes. She sinks the putt and the caddy follow them (4:44-5:20). Two well-dressed women passengers talk. One wears a fur stole and the other wears a multi-layered pearl necklace, large earrings, and a large lapel flower. She adjusts the air flow vent (5:40-6:09). New York’s neon lights advertise Budweiser, Chevrolet, Admira Television Appliance, Pepsi-Cola, the Shubert, Walter Slezak in “My 3 Angels”, and Melvyn Douglas in “Time Out for Ginger.” Posters advertise the New York City Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera (6:11-6:25). A map of the United States hangs on the wall in an office. The man answers a black desk telephone. He hangs up and calls another gentleman who packs his hat into his large leather briefcase. The stewardess serves him coffee. He fixes a mine mechanism and the dirt begins moving again. He returns to his office, marks off the days to “Anniversary” on a wall calendar, and puts a Happy Anniversary wrapped package on his desk (6:27-9:15). A man rents a 1940s Chevy Bel Air from a Hertz office. His Air Travel Credit Card is shown. He makes sales calls before flying home. His family waits on the runway (10:30-11:55). Four women in late 1940s clothing and hairstyles eat at a café. They fly to Hawaii for vacation and home again (12:17-13:34). A farm in Rhode Island is shown. A black-and-white photo of a baby sits on a dresser. An elderly couple pack their clothes into large leather suitcases. The luggage is weighed at the airport. They board a Convair 340 airplane. The cockpit Altitude Selector is shown. They are greeted by their family at the airport; the little girl wears a hat with a long ribbon (13:49-16:12). A newly married couple get in a car with a Just Married sign and tin cans and kiss (16:15-16:34).
