29604 “COME SAIL WITH ME” 1950S U.S. NAVY GUIDED MISSILE PROGRAM CRUISER USS COLUMBUS CG-12

This late 1950s film titled “Come Sail With Me” acted as recruitment material for the US Navy. Prepared for The Surface Missile Systems Program Office Bureau of Naval Personnel, this film sought to specifically target men to join the Guided Missile Fleet. The film, which was produced and directed by Jay Brubaker, details the career of a Naval Officer in the Guided Missile Fleet from the first days of boot camp to specialization training at one of the Navy’s designated training centers and from battle to post-service career opportunities. A production of The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, the film not only entices recruits through the education opportunities and career stability offered but by promoting the slogan “Join the Navy and see the world.”
