Opening: United States Navy presents The Annapolis Story (:06-:49). Naval cadets march. Some carry rifles. Some carry books. Huge group of cadets marches. Aerial shot of U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Cadets march. Graduation day. A mailman delivers mail to a boy sitting, another working on a car. A boy runs with his letter to a group of girls. U.S. Capitol building, the White House. Boys in shirts and ties take a test. A doctor checks blood pressure. Newly appointed men walk around the grounds of the academy (:50-3:30). Marching is practiced. A knot is being done by hands. Marching and more marching. Men jump into the pool and swim. Obstacle courses. A boy does push ups. Men practice sailing. Aerials hot of the academy. Bancroft hall. A mid-shipman walks the grounds. Barber shops, tailor, post office. A mess hall, empty. A store. A soda fountain. A dentist. Men march (3:31-5:45). A hand in a hat. A cadet is asked questions and is nervous. Boys seated. A boy puts a jacket on. A diagonal stripe of a third classman, two for a second classman, and a Horizontal stripe of a first classman. A star added also signifies rank. Cadets march for families watching (5:46-8:00). An officer looks over the cadets. Mid-shipman are awakened at 6:15am. One boy showers, then studies. Drills and laboratory work follow. Boys rush down the steps to play sports. Boys study. It is night (8:01-9:20). The watch is at night. A mid-shipman reports for duty. A baseball game in play. Tennis. Track and field. Couples dance in slow dances. A cadet places a jacket around girl. On Sunday, the chapel calls the future officers to worship. Inside of the chapel. Cadets sing church hymns. Stained glass windows inside the chapel (9:21-12:38). Cadets leave the chapel carrying the U.S. flag. White hats hung up on hooks. A teacher teaches from a blackboard. Students use a reel to reel machine while speaking Spanish. A radar machine is used. Gun turrets are used to teach. A boat model assists the teaching. A boiler of a destroyer is used for teaching. A globe has chalk written on it to teach a point. A student removes a book from the library. Practical instruction is demonstrated. A gun turret is taught (12:39-15:31). Battleships at sea. Mid-shipman at sea on ships. They swab the decks. They use communications equipment and binoculars. Ships sail near submarines. Some of the cadets scale the side of the boat, with helmets on, and board amphibious vehicles and go through simulated war-games. Smoke and bombs, navigation equipment is used. Planes land on the ships. A pilot talks to the cadets (15:32-17:18). Cadets in class. Cadets march. Crypt of John Paul Jones is in the chapel. Placard for John Paul Jones. A bust for Jones is looked at by a cadet. A cadet looks at a painting. A painting of a battle at sea. Guns from a ship are fired. Bombs explode as seen from the air. Firepower is demonstrated. A sign reads: Don’t give up the ship. Cadets rush and run. They watch a Navy football game. Lots of Navy football game footage (17:19-20:29). A boat is placed into the water. Rowing team using their oars. A cadet is thrown into the water by teammates. Boxing match, basketball. Running, pole vault, wrestling, using a rifle, golfing. Trophies are given out to sportsmen. A cadet types. Academy yearbook (20:30-22:23). A cadet stands up near a table. On Air sign for a radio station. A dance band. Sailing and chess. Mid-shipman watches and observes. A jet flies over the class. The boys throw pennies at a bust. Cadets climb to top of monument. Class ring dance. cadets visit a foreign port. Rio, Paris, Greece, England are visited. Jolly Roger flag. A painted face on a boy. Colorguard (22:24-25:07). Graduation ceremony. A speaker talks to the proud men in their white uniforms. The men throw up their hats. Women kiss their happy men. Men leave. A new class enters the academy’s grounds. Navy men at sea. Ships at sea. Marching band (25:06-27:51). End credits (27:52-28:06).
