This is part 2 of 2 of “Battle of Russia”. First released in 1943, this film attempts to explain Russia’s history dating from the German invasion in 1242 and throughout WWI and WWII. This part of the film shows Germany and Hitler’s failed attempt to invade and conquer Russia. It portrays the country’s destroyed landmarks and historical sights, the many deaths and grieving relatives. It shows the Siege of Leningrad, the invasion of Russia, Crimea, and the Caucasus region, the Battle of Stalingrad, and Stalinist Russia as it gains the initiative and begins to march towards victory in Berlin.
