24020 HD 600th Photo Division Vietnam combat camera photography gun camera

This silent film produced in 1968 features combat camera footage shot by the 600th Photo Squadron, part of Military Airlift Command. It begins with shots of Saigon, and then rapidly moves into jungle combat. The various activities of the 600th are shown including shooting military maneuvers, accidents such as the plane crash seen at 6:31, spraying of Agent Orange (7:16 and 22:15), processing of gun camera films, special events (at 5:09, President Lyndon Johnson is shown during his visit to Vietnam with General William Westmoreland), and more. A camera rig used to film out the door of a helicopter is seen at 7:18. Air to air combat with North Vietnamese MiGs is seen at 8:52 and again at 15:30 and 19:22. F-105 aircraft were equipped with cameras for various purposes, and the special features of these planes are shown.
