This silent travelogue of Japan contains some marvelous historic images. It begins with a trip down the Road to Kamakura. Rice fields are seen at the :45 mark. The Great Buddha or Bronze Diabutso, is seen at 1:53. The port of Nagasaki is seen at the 2:20 mark with coal being transferred to an ocean liner by hand. The Tokaido Road is seen at the 3:15 mark. At the 6:30 mark, potters are seen making traditional hand spun pots, and wood carvers are shown at the 7:30 mark. The tree lined road to Nikko is seen at 8:20 and the Gamman-Ga-Fuchi River. At 10:46 the ruins of the Shodo Shonin Shrine are seen. The film ends at Nikko and the mountains beyond, known as the “Pearls of Japan.”
