These 1950s newsreels show the U.S. Navy’s JATO-launched Regulus cruise missile. The early part of the film shows the missile being launched from the carrier USS Princeton. The missile is then guided to a landing — it has a tricycle style landing gear allowing it to be recovered and used again. At :48, the missile is shown launched from an aircraft catapult. At 1:02, the missile is once again launched by JATO from the cruiser USS Helena.
