Released during WWII for the home market, and sold in department stores in Germany, this short silent film shows U-boats in action including U-41, U-37 and U-38. The film starts with U-boats deploying to sea in a wolfpack. At :55 the general alarm has sounded after an enemy convoy is sighted and the crew dives the boat. At 1:23 the boat submerges. At 2:08 view through the boat’s periscope at the enemy formation of ships. At 2:30 the captain of the U-boat sees an enemy destroyer coming in for a depth charge run. At 3:00 the boat surfaces. At 3:35 the crew mans the deck gun and opens fire on an enemy warship (a move which, in actual combat, would have likely proved fatal!)
