20534 US NAVY CHECKING IN 1940s COMEDY SHORT 20534

Made by unknown filmmakers sometime in the 1940s, CHECKING IN is a silent U.S. Navy gag movie that follows the antics of a new recruit named Red Marme. The film follows Marme as he arrives for basic training aboard a U.S. Navy bus (which he falls out of). This sets the tone for a series of funny vignettes ranging from Red’s first cigarette, working as a photographer’s mate (and losing the camera out the airplane), and more. If Youtube existed in 1948 this might have been a million viewer.
