19934 CHEVY PICKUP TRUCKS “LASTING VALUE” 1974-75 CHEVROLET SALESMAN TRAINING & PROMO FILM

Here are two films produced by Chevrolet in 1974-1975. The first, “Lasting Value”, was intended to be used as both a sales promotion tool, and a training film for salesmen. The movie emphasizes the value you get when buying a Chevrolet truck. (Some of the subtext of the film is doubtless the gas crunch, which hit the American consumer hard in this era.) The second film “1975 Chevy Pickups Lasting Value” starts at 9:30.

The movie opens with A. T. Olson, an assistant general sales manager for Chevrolet, speaking to the camera. A Chevy slogan; “Economy and Value Started with Chevy Trucks a Long Time Ago” 1:42. Chevy provides economical transportation for business 1:52. Economical under every haulage condition, 1927 2:00. Double wall construction in cabs and bodies 4:06. Massive girder – beam 4:09. Totally balanced braking system 4:35. Mr. Olson reads a market research report on customer opinions, long service life and resale value 5:40. Chevrolet is rated highest among all competitors 5:51. Value is based on integrity 8:10. Value that last 8:28. Relationships that last 8:35. Written and produced by the Bill Sandy Company, Inc.

Economy and value started with Chevrolet over half a century ago. An old time Chevrolet truck (1925) goes down the road 9:24. In 1975, Chevy’s pledge of economy and lasting value is just as valid as it was over 50 years ago. Lasting value. 1975 Chevy pickups including the Silverado 9:43. Chevy’s newest, top of the line pickup, The Fleetside Silverado, 9:53. New grill on the Silverado 10:05. Six interior colors 10:15. Vinyl bucket seats with center console available 10:22. Door panels with storage pockets 10:25. The Silverado is one of four trim levels for pickups in 1975. The economical Custom deluxe sets the standard as the base model 10:46. The Scottsdale with chrome bumpers and hubcaps. The seats are nylon cloth, 11:05. The popular Cheyenne. A more massive new grill and new moldings with a distinctively styled Cheyenne tailgate 11:20. The Stepside, the Crew Cab and Big Dooley round out the collection 11:36. On Fleetside models a quick release tailgate is available 11:45. A full range of engines are available 12:02. A 250 L6 is featured 12:15. A high-energy ignition system produces a hotter spark, faster, surer starts, and increases spark plug life 12:25. New catalytic converters are standard on these models 12:30. These features reduce emissions and improve fuel economy 12:50. An animated piece shows how fuel goes through the engine 12:58. 1975 recommended maintenance intervals have been extended, engine oil and chassis lube now up to six months or 7500 miles, oil filter now up to first 7500 miles, spark plugs up to 22,500 miles 13:30. Trucks with GVW ratings over 6000 pounds 13:44. C10 models do not have a catalytic converter and do not require unleaded fuel 13:50. The quiet room at engineering 14:05. Quietness in the cab is another feature of Chevy value; sound tests are administered in front of airplanes with propellers spinning 14:40. Sound deadening insulation between the panels 14:50. Massive girder beam soaks up the bumps 15:20. Rear springs with two-stage construction provide steady support 15:37. Liquids are poured into containers attached to the hood of a Chevy. The purpose is to show how the wheel shakes but the hood absorbs the road shock 16:19. Chevy handling 16:35. Chevy crosses the river 16:48. Construction crew builds a house 17:25. Industrial carbine saw slices open a Chevy 17:38. Inner fender liner, 17:47. Man uses a jackhammer on the inside of a Chevy cargo bed. The inside is damaged but no dents on the outside 18:18. Value, economy, high resale value 18:30. 390,000 Chevy trucks on the road 18:36. Lasting Chevy value. Written and produced by the Bill Sandy Company, Inc. End Part Two. Begin Part Three.
