17654 ” ALASKA THE GREAT LAND ” 1971 ALASKA NATURAL RESOURCES, MINING & LUMBER FILM

Commissioned by British Petroleum, “Alaska The Great Land” is a short film that promotes the many promising qualities of the rich natural beauty of Alaska while portraying its spectacularly valuable natural resources, including lumber and minerals. Specifically, the film talks about Alaska’s history and how the discovery of oil there may impact its future. It was directed by Derek Williams and presented by United States Expositions Staff and the Department of Commerce in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture. The film was produced by Humphrey Swingler, with script by Derek Williams, photography by Maurice Picot and score by Edward Williams.
