XD14064 ” TRIP TIME ” 1960s SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MINI TRAVELOGUES MARINELAND SANTA’S VILLAGE

This reel is a compilation of several short, incomplete travelogues from 1961 by Peterson Productions. The upload contains footage from tours of the Hoover Dam, Santa’s Village and an western themed amusement park (probably Knott’s Berry Farm), and other activities to explore. The compilations are originally written and directed by James Fitzpatrick and narrated by Johnny Coons with music by Jerry Adler, although this upload is silent.

The reel starts with a safe driving PSA made by International Harvester. Here, a 1950s Chevrolet Deluxe car is waiting to exit a parking spot as other cars drive by (00:06). A driver in his car yells out the window (00:09). Another driver in his car yells out his window (00:10). The two drivers continue arguing (00:13). A Cadillac Coupe Deville car arrives (00:19). The Cadillac driver starts talking with the other drivers (00:24). The Chevrolet Deluxe car exits the parking spot (00:27). The third driver sits in his car (00:35). He adds a sticker with “Courtesy is Contagious” written on it to the inside of his car (00:39). Then he drives (00:47). Cars driving on a highway (00:52).
