Opening: The wonderful world of Ford sign is displayed, a globe is moving as a person’s hand swivels it. Title credit on a book cover: THREE MONTHS IN A DAY WITH FORD (:12-:32). A Ford executive talks about the Ford Mustang. It was originally known as the T-5 when it was being designed. T-5 market plans are shown in a meeting (:32-1:55). Men work and design the car. The outlines for advertising scripts along with a song are made (1:56-2:38). A full stage musical is planned to advertise new Ford products. All of this means getting ready for the 1964 Ford Merchandising Fair and that takes lots of building. Advertising cars plus designing new cars as the men get ready for the Ford Merchandising Fair (2:39-4:11) It is now time for Fair season. Twenty six 40 foot vans move all around the country as does a chartered airline. The usual agenda was: 9am-11am – Business session; 11am-12:30pm – Merchandising Fair; 12:30pm-1:45pm – Luncheon; 2pm-4pm – Introduction Show; 4:15-6pm – Fair & Cocktails (4:12-5:06). In the morning, a state of our business message from Ford’s Lee Iacocca is for Ford dealer’s only. New ideas/concepts are shown in the merchandising fair to assist in their business (5:07-6:11). According to Iacocca there are 18 major parts of Ford business. Take what you need and learn. After the merchandising part, dealers rejoined their wives and had lunch (6:11-7:09). And now the big event – the big reveal on the new Mustang. A full on musical tells a Mustang merchandising story. This film shown to dealers has some amazing Mustang footage (7:10-8:44). Following the show, there was a cocktail reception and a display for the new Mustang (8:45-9:10). And now it is time to move to the next location on the tour. 12 full days coast to coast in 25 days (9:11-9:32). A Ford executive wraps it up (9:33-9:47). End credits (9:48-9:57).
