72412 PAN AM AIRLINES JAPAN TRAVELOGUE “SO SMALL MY ISLAND”

This Pan Am Airlines travelogue film “So Small Island” takes viewers on a trip to Japan aboard a Boeing 707 in the 1960s, and shows the “old” Japan of tradition and the “new” modern Japan where “East meets West.” It includes a great deal of footage shot in Tokyo, Kyoto, and rural Japan. There are terrific street scenes of downtown, shopping districts, and the people of Japan. Also seen in the film are images of rural Japan, and the scenic beauty of the Home Islands as a tourist might have experienced them in this era. Mt. Fuji is seen as well as various shrines, Geisha girls, the fishing fleet, ceremonial Shinto shrines, a water festival, and even a motion picture being made featuring samurai.
