60494 1946 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE 57th ANNUAL TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PASADENA CALIFORNIA

This silent home movie shows the 1946 Rose Parade, the first post-WWII parade and one with a fitting theme — Victory, Unity and Peace. The Grand Marshall this year was Admiral Frederick Halsey who led the U.S. Navy to victory in WWII. One of the highlight floats from San Diego features a WWII airplane (4:03) complete with turning propeller. At 4:14 an L.A. Times float proclaims “Victory, Unity, Peace” on the masthead. At 5:11 the float from Ventura features a spinning globe. At 5:52 a Glendale float with an enormous dove moves past. At 7:35 the Compton float is shown and at 8:25 the Rotary Club. At 9:26 an elaborate float with a Lockheed airplane moves past. At 10:41 the parade is over and some of the award winning floats are shown in detail.
