63694 A TIGER HUNT IN BENGAL 1940s INDIA HUNTING FILM PANTHER & BENGAL TIGER HUNT

This 1940s black and white film is a very graphic hunt in Bengal showing multiple animals shot and people attacked by animals. It was presented by Nu-Art Films Inc. and narrated by Gordon W. Hedwig. A hunting group, some riding elephants, enters the jungle at the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia. A monkey scrambles up and sits on a dead tree branch. Other stump-tailed macaques monkeys scramble up trees. A flock of birds leave the tree together (:25-1:05). The photographers are shown with their tents. The native bush beaters walk through the jungle, thrashing the foliage to scare up tigers. Footage is shown of tigers reacting and running (1:06-2:02). A group of hunters wearing pith helmets and holding their guns approach the camera. Tigers continue to be shown running (2:03-2:33). A constrictor moves through the tree branches towards a small macaque, which is encircles. The pair drop to the ground where the snake continues to squeeze its prey (2:34-3:34). A tiger runs towards the camera. The hunters watch from behind bushes. Footage is shown of a hunter chasing a tiger, firing his gun, and natives finish off the animal with spears (3:35-4:30). The group of hunters continue to follow the bush beaters. Footage of the tiger is interspersed, including one sitting in a tree and jumping down from it (4:31-5:39). A python slithers through a tree. It reaches down and grabs a native walking underneath it, who keeps pulling against it to be free (5:40-5:58). A photographers sets up his camera on its tripod. An attacking tiger is shot dead right in front of him (5:59-6:35). A fake foliage shield is placed around the camera. A black panther watches and is shot on camera (6:36-7:15). The group continues through the jungle. A provoked leopard is shot as it comes towards the camera. A tiger comes and inspects as the men run from it. The tiger chases one man up a tree but is shot (7:16-8:55). A tiger attacks and injures one of the men (8:56-9:24).
